The name "Royi Sal" carries deep personal and cultural significance. Originally, Royi attempted to register the name "Royi Gal", but it was unavailable in Thailand. Seeking guidance, he turned to his mother, who suggested "Royi Sal", a name influenced by Kabbalistic teachings that imbue words with meaning and power.
In Hebrew, “Sal” (שאל) translates to happiness and wealth, serving as a reminder that success should always be accompanied by humility. Inspired by an ancient Roman story in which a slave whispered to Caesar, "You are only human", Royi embraced this philosophy—understanding that ego must never overshadow purpose. His business is not just about financial gain; it is about giving back, creating opportunities, and sharing knowledge.
Why Thailand? The Beginning of a Jewelry Journey
Royi’s journey into the jewelry industry began with a bold decision—to leave his homeland of Israel and establish himself in Thailand, a country known for its affordability, welcoming environment, and rich craftsmanship. With fewer societal pressures and a thriving trade market, Thailand provided the ideal landscape to build a business from the ground up.
His first venture was a pewter jewelry partnership, but financial disagreements led him to strike out on his own. With no formal training, he self-educated, experimenting with coating techniques and capitalizing on the body jewelry trend that emerged during the early 2000s pop culture wave. The turning point came when a major UK customer placed a large order, fueling business growth and solidifying Royi Sal Jewelry as a respected name in the industry.
